Why hire Iron House?

Iron House is one of the ONLY firms in the United States that offers interior design services specific to the luxury home, boutique residential, and unique garage gym clientele.  We are passionate about design and dedicated to staying up-to-date on the most recent industry-specific research and trends ... but more importantly, we know fitness.

How does  Iron House charge?

There is always a cost attached to using any type of design professional, but we assure you that it's money well spent.   You will end up with a more polished end result, and you won't waste your valuable time.   Our basic rates are as follows:

  • Consulting: phone/email/local/zoom $125/hr

  • Site Visit: Rates vary by project and location.

  • Furniture, Lighting Schematics or Storage Design: Rates vary by project.

  • Construction and Project Management: Rates vary by project.

  • Custom Equipment (yes, we design custom equipment), designed by Iron House and is priced per piece and based on the amount of customization requested.

  • Stock Fitness Equipment: Varies by manufacturer at the best available price that we can find for you.

  • Delivery/Install of Stock Fitness Equipment: Varies by manufacturer and is priced by the trucking service that they prefer to use. Custom made equipment is delivered by IRON HOUSE and priced accordingly to our VIP service.

Up Front Costs:

This is a creative fee that guarantees us a minimum set of hours per project, but is not limited to those hours. It is for a finished floor plan, which includes onsite measurements, if needed. And it is required prior to the commencement of any drawings and/or design concepts. We have 2-tiers, which are as follows:

  • $1500 for any standard home gym project. It guarantees us a minimum of 12 hours of work per project. (For anything 500 square feet and under.)

  • $2500 for any more intricate project (from the ground up) or larger facility such as a condominium or boutique residential space. It guarantees us a minimum of 20 hours of work per project. (For anything over 500 square feet.)

Additional Costs:

In regard to the floor plan itself and consulting there are no additional costs. Our fee is from concept to completion. To be clear and transparent, we also make money from selling luxury fitness equipment that we are personal importers of. You will find that we are one of the only companies in America listed as authorized dealers of most luxury brands so we make money like any other retailer on those brands.

Beyond the floor plan, which includes 2D/3D images to generally show the suggested interior design concept for the gym. Concept to include electrical needs and specifications, blocking specifications for the builder, furnishings, fitness equipment selection, color palettes, interior finishes, wall coverings, lighting and fan/air circulation suggestions and specifications, audio/video ideas and specification and any hardware or fitness accessories and the like. We offer custom design services that include lighting schematics, furniture design, sauna design, built-in storage design and more, which are priced per project.

And finally, any additional costs outside of our equipment and/or optional design services typically come from clients requesting that Jim and Tanya personally come to their location for various aspects of the gym build. For situations like that we, of course, have to bill for hotel and airfare (which we pass on at cost) and for the length of time that we will be at the location. It is typically not a necessity for us to be there and is usually a request initiated by the client and/or homeowner. We have traveled to many locations accommodating a more personal touch.

How long will my project take?

Full-scale projects can take six months or longer to complete. Typically more than two-thirds of the overall time is spent designing, planning and preparing. If time is of the essence, we can come up with solutions to meet your requirements. The duration of the project is not set in stone and hinges on many factors.  If you make decisions quickly, the project will be completed sooner.  If you need a little bit more time to mull things over, it could increase the time necessary to complete the project.

It is best to contact Iron House as early as possible to discuss your potential project.

In regard to fitness equipment specifically, whether stock, semi-stock or custom it typically takes anywhere from 16 to 23 weeks from the date the order is placed to receive your items. We can help you by placing the orders for you, arranging the installation, and keeping you up-to-date on it’s arrival, but we are a third party and have no control over lead-times. We do however have a good relationship with our vendors and get priority in most instances. We will be your advocate to make sure that everything goes smoothly as possible and when it doesn’t we will stay on the companies to make it right, so that you don’t have to.

Note: There are times when equipment takes even longer as EVERYTHING, from all companies is now Made-to-Order only or Made-on-Demand only. Due to the unstable situation on world markets, equipment companies are forced to reserve the right to change the date of your order at every stage. And we will do everything we can to protect our clients from the effects of the current situation, however it changes every day and it is difficult to clearly declare compliance with the predetermined deadlines. We kindly ask you for your understanding and detailed tracking of the correspondence. We will inform you immediately about each planned change. The only exception to this is Peloton and Tonal which seem to be on a 2 to 4 week lead-time schedule.

Will Jim and/or Tanya be at our install?

As we previously touched upon, unless we are specifically requested to be there, we will not be on location at the time of delivery or installation. If we are requested to be there, we are happy to do so, but we will have to charge you for our time. It is not uncommon for our clients to fly us to their location and have us there for final install, but again, this is an extra service that comes with a fee.

Delivery and Install of Stock Fitness Equipment varies by manufacturer and is priced by the trucking service that each brand prefers to use. And because we will not be at any “standard” installations, it is the homeowners responsibility to have someone on site that is in charge of the property at all times while the crew is there.

Do we offer our services to other trade professionals?

Yes. Iron House offers both design services and equipment selection help, and loves collaborating with others whenever possible.  So if you already have an interior designer, architect, or builder working on your home gym (or even if you are designing the room yourself) and can't get a custom piece of fitness equipment, or simply need a functional layout for your home gym, from a fitness professional, please contact Iron House.

Note: If you are only shopping fitness equipment.

If you already know what you need for equipment (don’t have any design needs), and are simply shopping prices, then we are probably not the company for you. While we have relationships with just about every single manufacturer in the health and wellness category, we do not bid against other quotes for your business. For trust and loyalty. We charge everyone the same pricing. And all the luxury brands that we deal with generally do not go on sale. We comply with the pricing the manufacturer sets for us.
